Matric Exams: Limited Access to Essential Subjects
This coming Monday, 20 October, the Matric class of 2025 will sit for their final exams.
Tens of thousands of learners will be denied the chance to write essential subjects as they attend schools which do not offer them.
- 476 schools do not offer maths as a matric subject.
- 873 schools also do not offer physical science.
According to Basic Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube, thousands of public schools in South Africa do not offer critical STEM subjects to matric learners.
