Tragic Accident: 9-Year-Old Girl Killed While Riding Bicycle to School
A devastating incident occurred in Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a 9-year-old girl.
Hazen Duffy, a third grader at Ingels Elementary School, was struck and killed by a cargo van while riding her bike to school. The accident happened at the intersection of Longview Road and Food Lane Drive.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, Hazen was riding her bike across the street in the crosswalk with a green light when a white Ford Transit van turned left onto Longview Road and hit her. Paramedics took her to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the van stopped and cooperated with the investigation, which is ongoing. The Kansas City Police Department confirmed the girl's death, and the family identified her as Hazen Duffy on Wednesday.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, and the driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
