An adult and a minor were injured in a car accident in Lafayette after the young driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

According to Deputy Chief Brian Rosipajla of the Lafayette police, the car was headed east on Arapahoe Road when the minor driver fell asleep, veered off the road, rolled over, and struck a utility pole.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash

The adult passenger is in serious condition, while the minor driver sustained minor injuries. Arapahoe Road was temporarily closed until the scene was cleared. The car was likely totaled, and the utility pole had to be replaced.
