A project has connected Americans to Dutch people who visit and honor their relatives at a World War II cemetery in the Netherlands.
June West Brandt, 93, was delighted to discover that a Dutch couple regularly visits a marker for her brother, William Durham West, Jr., who was killed in WWII.
“It’s wonderful for me to know that someone is there,”said Brandt.
Brandt's brother was a kind and artistic person who loved to play boogie-woogie on the piano, and she has never forgotten him. The Dutch couple's visits to his marker have brought comfort to Brandt, who lives near Houston.
The project has brought together Americans and Dutch people who share a common bond in honoring and remembering those who died in WWII.
