Benue's Catholic Farming Towns under Siege

Thousands of Fulani ethnic militia have occupied 17 of 23 counties in Benue State, aiming for a state takeover.

The Catholic farming town of Aye-Twar in Katsina-Ala County, Benue State, has been reduced to ruins after months of assaults by Fulani armed militias.

"They came to destroy our farms and take our land,"

said Kwazan Samuel, a 45-year-old farmer and father of three from Kwaghzan Village.

The town, once known for its lush farmlands and strong Tiv Catholic community, now lies deserted — a wasteland of ashes and sorrow.
