Pullman School Board Candidates Seek Change
The Pullman School Board race for District 5 features Stephanie Horn and Brandon Kruger, who both pledge to improve transparency and accountability.
Stephanie Horn, 51, a former teacher, and Brandon Kruger, 39, a stay-at-home dad, are vying for the open seat. Horn has four children who attended Pullman schools and works part-time supervising Washington State University student teachers. Both candidates criticize the school board and Superintendent Bob Maxwell's handling of the dismissal of athletic director Wendy Kruger, which drew over 100 people to a board meeting.
The decision sparked controversy, with a typically low-attendance board meeting attracting a large audience.
Amanda Tanner, the current District 5 board member, was defeated in the primary.
