The Supreme Court has granted interim relief to a resident of Dharamshala, protecting him from a Himachal Pradesh High Court verdict on an encroachment regularization law.
The law, which allowed the state government to make rules for regularizing encroachments on government land, was declared unconstitutional by the Himachal Pradesh High Court on August 5.
Issue notice, returnable within four weeks. Until further orders, status quo, as it exists today, with regard to the suit property shall be maintained by the parties.
The plea was filed by Trilochan Singh, a resident of Dharamshala, in relation to his house.
