Good Fortune Review
Good Fortune is a witty comedy that features a terrific performance by Keanu Reeves. The film is a prince-and-the-pauper-style fable that, although not laugh-out-loud funny, showcases Reeves' talent.
Aziz Ansari plays Arj, a character living out of his car, which creates an immediate dissonance due to Ansari's known wealthy status and light presence in his acting roles. As Arj faces economic hardships, including odd jobs and part-time shifts, he seems more irritated than genuinely weary.
It’s not that Hollywood actors we know to be well off can’t be convincing embodying characters experiencing economic distress.
Reeves' performance lifts the film, making it an enjoyable watch despite its gentle comedy tone.
