Jared Moskowitz has filed legislation to ensure continuous funding for disaster payments during the federal shutdown.
The Federal Emergency Management Continuity Act, to be filed with U.S. Representative Troy Carter, a Louisiana Democrat, would require the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to continue disbursing Disaster Relief Funding despite a lack of budget resolution approved by Congress.
“During a government shutdown, communities hit by disaster shouldn’t have to worry that the resources they’re counting on to recover will go undelivered,”
Moskowitz said, emphasizing that families and businesses should have confidence in receiving promised funds regardless of congressional actions.
