Trump Commutes Former Rep. George Santos' Prison Sentence
President Donald Trump commuted the 7-year prison sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos on Friday.
Santos, a Republican from New York, was sentenced to 87 months in prison in April after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
- Santos appealed to the Trump administration to intervene, calling the sentence overly harsh and politically motivated.
- Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also urged the White House to commute the sentence, calling it "a grave injustice" and a product of judicial overreach.
