Canvas Outage Disrupts Students' Classwork Amid Midterm Season
The Emory Wheel, an independent student-run newspaper of Emory University since 1919, reports a widespread Amazon Web Services (AWS) server error.
A 15-hour outage of the Canvas platform occurred, starting around 3:00 a.m. and lasting until 6:00 p.m., blocking students from accessing assignments and class materials.
"I have assignments due tomorrow that I had planned out time in my schedule to do today, but because they're on Canvas and Canvas isn't working, I can't do them," said Anahata McCallum-Moore (27Ox). "I'm feeling stressed about not being able to do my work."
Many students, like McCallum-Moore, expressed frustration over the outage, which affected their ability to manage assignments.
