Airports Prepare for Holiday Travel Amid Government Shutdown

Airports are gearing up for the holiday season amidst the ongoing government shutdown. According to Lauren Gonzales, Santa Barbara Airport Marketing Supervisor, larger airports are more likely to feel the impacts of the shutdown.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced a staffing shortage on Sunday, resulting in some flights from Oakland to LA being temporarily grounded. However, Santa Barbara Airport has not been affected to the same extent.

"We really haven't seen much impact on operations at SBA luckily but we are keeping in close contact with our Federal partners to be in touch on any changes that they see on their end,"

said Gonzales. A government worker, who wished to remain anonymous, reported being delayed due to issues at other airports while traveling.
