E.ON Partners with Nokia for Network Upgrade
E.ON Group, an energy company, has signed a five-year deal with Nokia to modernize its mission-critical communications infrastructure.
The initial project in Germany is expected to set the blueprint for units elsewhere in Europe.
The upgraded network for E.ON's distribution system operators would reduce energy consumption compared with the IP and optical infrastructure currently in place.
- Power use is estimated to be cut by up to 50 per cent.
- The new equipment will improve security and operational resilience.
- It will also offer scalability, operational flexibility, and responsiveness.
Nokia will provide the full suite of next-generation networking solutions, including IP routing and switching, optical transport, fixed broadband access, and network automation.
