State Representative Wiedower Resigns

State Representative Marcus Wiedower has stepped down, creating another vacancy in the General Assembly. This brings the total number of vacancies in the House and Senate to four.

Wiedower, a Republican from Watkinsville, announced his resignation on Tuesday after six years in the House. He cited the rapid growth of his company as the reason for his departure, which will require more travel and take him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.

“While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe,”

Wiedower works for Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm headquartered in Winter Park, Florida.
