Georgia Lawmaker Steps Down, Creating Vacancy in General Assembly
A state representative, Marcus Wiedower, is stepping down from his position, creating another vacancy in the General Assembly.
Wiedower, a Republican from Watkinsville, announced his resignation on Tuesday after six years in the House. He cited the rapid growth of his company, which will require more travel and take him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.
“While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe,”
Wiedower works for Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm. The company has expanded significantly since he joined six years ago, and his new role will require more travel.
