Sherwood Park U16 Northstars Advance to Finals
The Sherwood Park U16 Northstars are looking to add another title to their legacy. Competing in the Capital District Minor Football Association's nine-man Mills Division, the Northstars secured their spot in the finals after a 18-12 win over the Millwoods Grizzlies on home turf in Emerald Hills.
With a strong start, Eli Berard quickly put the Northstars on the board with a touchdown, and nearing the end of the first quarter, Berard picked up a Grizzlies’ fumble and ran almost 80 yards for another touchdown. Early in the second quarter, quarterback Lukah Dyrland ran a boot outside and ran in a 60-yard touchdown, leading 18-0 after the half.
However, the Grizzlies readjusted and clawed back, shutting down the Northstars’ offense. The Northstars will now face Beaumont in the finals.
