Former Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd, known as the city's "People's First Mayor," has passed away at 78 after over 40 years of public service.
Floyd dedicated more than four decades to public service, including 22 years as Bonham's mayor, serving from 1981 to 1987 and again from 2005 to 2021.

His legacy continues through the Roy V. Floyd Community Center, dedicated in 2021. City Manager Sean Pate described Floyd as "the model for civic responsibility," noting his leadership helped shape the city's future.
