A recent poll by Ipsos and the Institute for Government reveals that 57% of the public lack confidence in the civil service's ability to solve Britain's most pressing issues.
The poll also found that 53% of respondents do not believe civil servants can deliver major projects on time and on budget, and 54% think civil servants do not understand the needs of local communities.
