Iran has unveiled a Christian-themed metro station in Tehran, amidst a controversy over religious persecution.
The station, named Maryam-e Moqaddas or Holy Mary station, features a plaque with a message that reads:
the message of Jesus Christ was the salvation of humans from darkness, ignorance, corruption, depravity and discrimination.
State media describes the station's name and motif as a gesture of cultural coexistence, noting that Mary is also a revered figure in Islam.
