New Book Examines Notorious Female Criminals in Texas

In one notable case, Peggy Jo Tallas, a woman from Dallas, adopted a disguise, including a brown leather jacket, aviator glasses, a cowboy hat, and a fake beard, to rob a bank in Irving in 1991.

“This is a bank robbery. No marked bills or dye packs.”

Tallas handed the teller a note with this message and received a large sum of cash. She went on to rob four more banks, earning the nickname "Cowboy Bob" due to her cross-dressing. The FBI eventually caught her, putting an end to her string of robberies.
