Campaigners have conceded defeat as the final appeal to save the Wales Air Ambulance base in Welshpool has been unsuccessful.
The Court of Appeal has refused to hear the case, leaving no other options available and paving the way for the closure of the base in North Powys.
Despite efforts to stop the charity from closing its Welshpool and Caernarfon bases in favour of a new one in north east Wales, the decision is now final.
While the loss of the air ambulance base is a significant blow, it is hoped that a land vehicle will be introduced to provide round-the-clock immediate responses for the local area.
The famous red helicopters will no longer be flying out of the local airport next year.
