Roy McDonald, a Vietnam veteran from Troy, will be honored as the 2025 Veteran of the Year.
McDonald served as an artillery forward observer in Vietnam with the First Cavalry Division. He later held office as Wilton town supervisor, state assemblyman, and state senator.
The New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs will host the ceremony on Saturday at 2 p.m. McDonald is being recognized for his military service, legislative work supporting veterans, and advocacy for autism awareness.
