Queer Issues are Human Issues
Content warnings: sexual assault, genocide, suicide. Queer issues extend beyond identities and labels, as attacks on queerness are essentially attacks on humanity.
Our activism must consider overlapping identities between marginalized groups, particularly how queer identities are impacted by social and political conflicts related to ethnic and racial groups.
This Queer History Month, we must acknowledge that the oppression of other communities affects queer issues. For instance, the genocide in Gaza, rising global fascism, and housing insecurity all have a profound impact on queer issues.
A notable example is the "No Kings" protests, where seven million people mobilized across the United States on October 18 against the loss of human rights resulting from U.S. President Donald Trump's authoritarian policies.
Attacks on queerness are attacks on humanity as a whole.
