City Council Discusses Free-Standing Emergency Room Proposals

The Jacksonville City Council held a discussion on taking proposals for a free-standing emergency room during their bi-weekly meeting on Monday.

Councilman Terry Wilson suggested sending a letter to hospitals with a deadline for presenting their plans to the city. According to Wilson, three hospitals have already expressed interest, but it is uncertain if all three will submit a proposal.

The citizens would have the opportunity to come and hear what each hospital can bring to the city. An ER is an ER, but beyond that is what kind of healthcare can the citizens of Jacksonville get.

Wilson's proposal aims to provide citizens with the opportunity to learn about the healthcare services each hospital can offer.
